A sewage or greywater treatment plant (STP) is a facility designed to treat and purify wastewater before it is released into the environment or reused for non-potable purposes.

After grit removal, the wastewater is treated through biological processes. Chemical processes can also be used to remove suspended solids, other contaminants and harmful pathogens. Finally, the treated water is discharged into the environment or reused for irrigation or industrial uses.
